Petition: No Wind Turbines in Serra d'Ossa

Protect the Natural Heritage of Estremoz

To the Government of Portugal, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Action, the Portuguese Environment Agency, and the Municipality of Estremoz.

We, the undersigned, express our firm opposition to the installation of wind turbines in Serra d'Ossa, in Estremoz, and request that this project be halted.

Why?

Serra d'Ossa is one of the most emblematic landscapes of Central Alentejo — a territory of high environmental, scenic, historical, and cultural value.

• Natural heritage — protected habitats, fauna and flora.
• Archaeological and cultural heritage — megalithic, Roman, and medieval remains.
• Tourism and local economy — nature tourism, wine tourism, rural tourism.
• Public participation — lack of adequate consultation.

We ask for

• Rejection of wind farm projects.
• Protected status for Serra d'Ossa.
• Rigorous Environmental Impact Assessment.
• Involvement of local communities.
